The ME-80 offers an intuitive user experience, unlike typical menu-driven multi-effects processors. It organizes effects into eight logical categories, all of which can be active simultaneously. Within these categories, there are multiple effects types to choose from, each with dedicated knobs for selection and adjustment. The Pedal FX category even has its own knob for quick assignment of effects types or functions controlled by the expression pedal. This familiar interface allows for instant access to great tones, akin to using a pedalboard. Plus, users can save current knob settings to any of the 36-user patch locations, enabling easy recall of custom effects configurations with a simple pedal press.

 

 

 

Stompbox Immediacy or Multi-FX Power: You Decide

 

The ME-80 offers both hands-on stompbox control for tweaking tones on the fly and efficient preset switching for complex setups. In Manual mode, categories function as individual stomp effects, allowing instant adjustment via panel knobs and on/off control with footswitches. Switching to Memory mode automatically reconfigures footswitches to select user or preset patches and patch banks, enabling direct recall of multi-effects setups. A dedicated footswitch allows for seamless toggling between Manual and Memory modes at any time, even mid-song.

 

 

New Footswitch Design Delivers Twice the Control

 

The ME-80 ensures easy usability during performances by featuring eight multifunction footswitches. These footswitches directly control effects on/off, bank/patch selection, and mode switching, with convenient access to alternate functions like tap tempo, tuner, looper control, and more. Each patch also allows for assignment of a special control (CTL) function, enabling toggling of grouped effects on/off or real-time adjustment of specified parameters. With a newly developed footswitch style that accommodates two switches in the space of one, BOSS has equipped the ME-80 with a generous array of foot-operated controls while maintaining a compact and mobile unit. Additionally, the expression pedal includes an integrated toe switch for toggling between foot volume and the current Pedal FX setting.

 

 

USB Audio/MIDI Interface Built In

 

Via USB, you can connect to your computer and capture the output of the ME-80 directly into your favorite DAW to record pro tones with COSM preamps and effects. It’s also possible to monitor the ME-80’s effects sound while recording an unprocessed signal into a DAW track. MIDI transfer over USB is also supported, allowing you to select ME-80 patches from your computer, send expression and control pedal data into your software, and swap patches via BOSS TONE STUDIO.
